Whales And Icebergs
Greenland, a magic, fascinating country where communities of mysterious Greenlandic Eskimos live their usual lives in secluded fjords, hidden from foreign eyes and hustle, where thousand-year-old icebergs sway in the waters of the northern seas and whales, not afraid of the danger, race with our ship, where thunder strikes here and there in the silence of autumn nights. Yes, that's right - you can hear the sounds of a hundred-meter iceberg splitting for miles .
In September 2022 we will hold a workshop in Ilulissat exploring the most beautiful fjords in Disko Bay and watching the gorgeous icebergs. And also... Well... No, I don't think we're going to tell you everything right away...
It's our seventh journey to Greenland - to one of the most mysterious and attractive places on our planet.
Greenland is calling us, and we're inviting you, dear friends, to this exciting journey!
We've changed the last year program and decided to accommodate the group on the coast, in a comfortable guest house in Ilulissata, on the very beach of Disko Bay. First, it will allow us to relax comfortably during the day, after our night and evening shootings. The second fundamental change is that we will use the ship for shooting only during evening and morning hours and not 24 hours a day, which gives us the opportunity of significantly reducing the cost of the journey. And here's the last one: at the hotel we will be able to hold a workshop on image processing where we'll talk about details of working in Lightroom and Photoshop.
During this trip we're going to discover the amazing sights that have made Ilulissat and Disko Bay famous. First, we will take a walk around Ilulissat where you will learn about the city culture and history.
Next day we will visit a UNESCO world heritage site - the colossal Sermek Kuyallek, one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world.
But that's not all! Our fast boat with a warm cabin will become our cozy and reliable ship during the whole trip. On board of it we'll organize six four-hour long voyages to Disco Bay so that our group will be as close to the world's largest icebergs as possible. We will explore the bay every day taking pictures of icebergs, mountains and whales if they come our way.
Level of Difficulty:
Mostly beginner. The hike to Ice fiord is about 30 minutes long and it's quite convinient, with a well-prepared path.
Each day we will also take a 1000 meters walk (one way) to the port.
Weather conditions may be very unstable. West Greenland is famous for its ever-changing weather. So, please, prepare for the worst conditions possible as temperature may drop to -5°C at night. Rain is possible, so good shoes, waterproof pants and a waterproof jacket are essential. A down jacket, gloves, a hat and a rain coat are important as well.
In order to save your time, we recommend to arrange a return flight from Copenhagen (CPH) to Ilulissat (JAV). You will arrive in Ilulissat (JAV) at 12:40 PM.
